Adrian, Michigan — Melinda Schwyn, deputy director of campus safety at Adrian College, has been named dean of students, effective August 21, 2017 according to Dr. Frank Hribar, the College’s vice president for enrollment & student affairs.
“Melinda’s experience in campus security, residence life and judicial affairs make her a natural fit for the dean’s position,” Hribar said. “I am confident our student life and resident services will flourish under her leadership and I am delighted to have her as a colleague on our administrative team.”
Schwyn joined the Adrian College staff in 2009 following years of distinction as a contractual law administrator and a distinguished tenure with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. As the Adrian College deputy director for campus safety she took on a leadership role in developing the College’s judicial affairs process along with serving as the College’s Title IX administrator. Schwyn has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the College.
As the dean of students, Schwyn will oversee the Offices of Student Life, Housing, Residence Life, and Greek Life in addition to providing oversight for the Campus Safety Department, Student Health Center and Counseling Services.
“It will be an honor to continue to work with the students and staff here at Adrian College in this position on a senior management level,” Schwyn said. “I look forward to implementing new initiatives and activities through the Dean’s office, as well as create a vibrant College experience for the students of Adrian College.”
