It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts, we share with you that our beloved mascot Bruiser has succumbed to health complications. Bruiser passed away comfortably on Friday.
Bruiser, who recently celebrated his eighth birthday, was a faithful and loyal member of the College community.
Loved by all, Bruiser played goalie between periods at the hockey games, enjoyed birthday cake with students in the College dining hall, and greeted all new freshman when they arrived on campus each fall. He will long be remembered as Adrian’s first live mascot, an honor he wore with distinction as he enjoyed long walks on campus with students and made appearances throughout lower Michigan.
In the words of Nolan Duda, a Business major from Coldwater, MI, “I loved that dog like a good friend, he personified all that is good about Adrian College: smart, kind, friendly, strong, and successful.” We are ever-so-grateful for the years he gave to the Adrian College family and the community at-large. We will all miss him dearly.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the entire College community and to Janine Grier who served as Bruiser’s primary handler for the past eight years. The College will announce plans for a celebration of Bruiser’s life when more details become available.
